How Does Quality Control Work in Clothing Manufacturing?

What gets checked at each stage of production, what you see as the buyer, and how to arrange your own inspection before shipment.

Quick answer

Quality is checked at every stage, not only at the end: fabric before cutting, panels after cutting, seams and decoration during sewing, and measurements and finish before packing. You get photo and video updates during production, and you can send SGS, Intertek, QIMA or your own inspector before shipment.

Checks at each stage

StageWhat is checked
FabricColour against the approved sample, weight (GSM), visible faults
CuttingPanel sizes against the pattern, grain direction, shade matching
DecorationLogo position, size and colour; print and embroidery quality
SewingSeam strength, stitch density, loose threads, label placement
FinishingMeasurements against the size chart, pressing, trims and zips
PackingQuantities per size, folding, polybags, carton labels

The approved sample is the standard

Every check compares the bulk order with the sample you approved. That is why sample approval matters: it is the written and physical reference for colour, fit and finish. See how clothing samples are developed.

What you see as the buyer

  • Photo and video updates at sampling, during production and at packing
  • Answers on WhatsApp and email from one point of contact
  • The option to have your own inspector check the goods before dispatch

Third-party inspection

If you want an independent check, book SGS, Intertek, QIMA or your own agent to inspect the finished goods at our facility before shipment. Tell us when you confirm the order, so the inspection date fits the production plan.

Common defects buyers ask about

  • Shade differences between fabric rolls, prevented by checking and matching shades before cutting.
  • Measurement drift across sizes, prevented by graded patterns and measuring finished garments.
  • Print or embroidery misplacement, prevented by placement guides and checks on the first pieces.
  • Loose threads and uneven seams, caught at the sewing and finishing checks.
